Cultural cycling route

A cycling route that introduces you to untouched nature and the rich cultural heritage of Montenegro and Serbia along 14 municipalities in the border area

The goal of the Cultural-bicycle route project is to improve the capacity for researching tourist potential in Montenegro and Serbia by establishing a bicycle route that will simultaneously promote and discover the underdeveloped natural and cultural heritage of the border area, attract domestic and international bicycle tourists and users of EuroVelo routes through the Balkans and influence the economic development of the area through which the bicycle route passes.

The project is implemented by the Ministry of Culture and Media of Montenegro, the NGO Discover Serbia from Priboj (Serbia) and the Student Organization of the Faculty of Traffic from Belgrade (Serbia). The project is co-financed by the European Union (EU) within the framework of the Instrument for Pre-Accession Assistance (IPA II) - Cross-Border Cooperation Program Serbia - Montenegro 2014-2020. The contract on co-financing of European Union funds was signed with the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Serbia - Sector for contracting and financing programs from EU funds.

This project establishes a cycling route 800 km long, which stretches through 14 municipalities of Montenegro and Serbia: Pljevlja, Žabljak, Mojkovac, Bijelo Polje, Kolašin, Berane, Rožaje, Tutin, Sjenica, Novi Pazar, Raška, Ivanjica, Nova Varoš and Prijob. Along the route and on the territory of these municipalities, 40 valuable cultural and historical landmarks of this region have been identified, among which are the monasteries of Đurđevi stupovi and Gradac, the local museum of Ganića kula, the medieval town of Jagat and Husein Pasha's mosque.
The cultural cycling route project was implemented in the period 2021-2023.
